# How do I change the reporting interval on my Sky Connect tracker?

Sky Connect trackers report at three rates and switch between them automatically based on flight status. Each rate can be changed over the air from Asset Manager, without anyone needing to access the aircraft. Begin by identifying the rate you want to change, as each one applies to a different stage of flight.

## First, identify the rate you want to change

Each rate can be set between 0.2 and 9999 minutes.

**Slow:** used on the ground. A departure switches the unit to the Normal rate, and an arrival switches it back to Slow.

**Normal:** used while en route.

**Rapid:** used while en route when triggered by an altitude setting or by a switch configured for rapid reporting.

## Next, select the option that describes your situation

How the change is made depends on your account permissions and the software version on your tracker.

**My account includes Over The Air Programming**

1. Navigate to **Asset Management \> Deployed Assets Finder** and select the aircraft.
2. Navigate to **Asset Management \> Over The Air Programming**.
3. Enter the tracker password. The default password is **admin**.
4. Enter the new reporting rates. Leave any setting you do not want to change at **NO CHANGE**.
5. Select **Send Changes**, and confirm that the message box indicates the change has been sent.
6. Power on the aircraft outside with a clear view of the sky within 48 hours, so the unit can receive the change. If the unit does not receive it within this period, the change must be sent again.

**My account includes Over The Air Programming, but my tracker is on older software**

Over the air programming requires tracker software later than revision 5.0. A tracker on an earlier revision does not accept changes sent from Asset Manager, so the rates must be changed directly on the unit.

**Tracker 3 and Tracker 3A**

1. Power on the tracker with the Ethernet cable disconnected, and wait for **wwwOK** to appear on the display.
2. Connect a laptop to the tracker's Ethernet port and open the Tracker Setup web page.
3. Open the **Tracking** page and enter the new **Slow**, **Normal** and **Rapid** message intervals.
4. Select **Save Changes**, and confirm that the page indicates the save was successful.
5. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cycle the tracker.

**Tracker II**

The change is made with the Tracker Setup Software by your installer or maintenance provider. Contact us if you need assistance arranging this.

**My account does not include Over The Air Programming**

If **Over The Air Programming** does not appear in the **Asset Management** menu, your account does not have access to this feature. Contact us with the rates you would like set, and we will send the change on your behalf. Once the change has been sent, power on the aircraft outside with a clear view of the sky so the unit can receive it.

After an over the air change, confirm that the new settings have been applied by requesting them from the unit:

1. Navigate to **History \> Historic Info** and wait for an **MMU\_MESSAGE** containing **Tracker Params ~Updated~**. This confirms the unit has received the change.
2. Navigate to **Asset Management \> Over The Air Commands** and select **Request Params Buffer**. If prompted for a password, enter **admin**.
3. The unit returns its current settings with its next scheduled report. Navigate to **History \> Last Reported Tracker Config** and confirm the reporting rates match the values you sent.

Wait for the Tracker Params ~Updated~ message before selecting Request Params Buffer. If the request is sent before the unit has confirmed the change, it may not return the updated settings. Please ensure that the aircraft is powered on under clear view of the sky.

## If the issue remains unresolved

Email [support@skytrac.ca](mailto:support@skytrac.ca) or call [+1 (250) 765-2393](tel:+12507652393) with the following:

- Unit serial number, IMEI and aircraft registration
- Tracker software revision, if known
- The reporting rates you would like set
- The date and time (UTC) the change was sent, and how (over the air or on the unit)
- Whether the aircraft has been powered on outside since the change was sent

Most of these details will be available from the checks above.
