# How do I confirm an event, alarm or emergency in TrooTrax?

The Events Stack in the Live Tracking Map shows all events currently on the system. Confirming an event records that you have seen it and taken the necessary action.

### Find the event

1. Select **View** from the top menu, then select the **Events** tab in the Live Tracking Map.
2. To narrow a long list, enter an aircraft in the **filter by asset** field, or an event in the **filter by events** field.
3. Select the filter icon to filter by type. The options are Show All, Alarms, Alarms Unconfirmed, Critical Alarms, Medium Alarms, Text Messages and Info Messages.

Selecting **Alarms Unconfirmed** is the quickest way to see everything still waiting to be confirmed.

### Confirm an event

There are two ways to confirm an event:

- Right-click the event and select **Confirm Event**.
- Or select the event, then select the **Confirm Alarms** icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the events list.

Add your comments in the **Comments** field, then select **OK**.

The event then appears underlined in the Events Stack. All confirmations are kept as part of the record of the flight and can be reviewed in the Event Log.

**Low severity events cannot be confirmed.** If an event is low severity, Confirm Event is greyed out. Low severity events such as take-off and landing are recorded for information only, because they are normal operations and do not require anyone to confirm them. An event such as a flight plan deviation is not normal operations, would be given a higher severity, and does need confirming by someone at the operations centre.

### Emergencies

Where an emergency alert has been configured on your TrooTrax site, you are notified as soon as an aircraft declares an emergency.

**An emergency must always be confirmed manually in TrooTrax, even if the crew has already cancelled emergency mode on the aircraft.** The alert does not clear itself. This is deliberate, so that no emergency can pass without somebody acknowledging it.

Which events are alarms, and why some are coloured

Most events are not alarms and are not coloured. An event that has been set up as an alarm is coloured according to its event type, as configured on your system. In the standard setup, Weather Notices appear yellow and Weather Warnings appear red.

When an event is an alarm, the aircraft name on the map also takes on the colour of that event.

Most events expire automatically after 24 hours, as set in your site configuration.

Reviewing past events

Select **View \> Events List** to see a chronological list of events. The list can be filtered by date, aircraft, event type and severity. Set your filters, then select **View**.
