# What do the buttons and lights on my RockAIR do?

The RockAIR has four buttons, each with an indicator light beneath it, plus two further indicators for external power and Bluetooth.

**The buttons**

**Power.** Press and hold for two seconds to switch the unit on and start sending position reports. Press and hold for two seconds again to switch it off, after which no position reports, waypoints or messages are sent. A short press pauses tracking, and a second short press resumes it.

**Distress.** Pressing the red distress button puts the unit into alert mode and sends an alert email to the address configured for your account. To cancel an alert, press and hold the distress button for four seconds, or switch the unit off.

**Monitor and Mark.** These are reserved for future development and have no function on their own. Together they adjust the brightness of the indicators.

**The lights**

The indicator beneath the power button shows the state of the unit:

- Solid green. Running on external power.
- Intermittent green flash. Running on the internal battery.
- Flashing quickly. Tracking is paused.
- Off. No power applied.

The indicator beneath the distress button flashes continuously while the unit is in alert mode.

The remaining two indicators sit in the same row. The external power indicator, marked with a lightning bolt symbol, flashes whenever the unit is connected to external power. The Bluetooth indicator, marked with a Bluetooth symbol, shows blue when a mobile device is connected to the unit.

**Adjust the brightness of the lights**

1. Press and hold the Monitor and Mark buttons together for two seconds. All of the keypad lights will come on.
2. Press Monitor to cycle through the five brightness settings.
3. Press the Power, Mark or Distress button to return to normal operation at the new setting.

> Holding the power button for eight seconds performs a hard reset. Please do not do this unless our support team has asked you to.
