What is the Sky Connect Tracker 3?
An introduction to the dual LBT Tracker III transceiver and what it added over earlier systems.
The Tracker 3 (Tracker III) is a complete redesign of the Sky Connect transceiver. It can carry two Iridium L Band Transceivers (LBTs), so the aircraft can send tracking reports and run a voice call at the same time. The standard system ships with one tracking only modem and one voice capable modem. The Tracker 3 also adds a front panel status display, browser based configuration through the Ethernet port, internal ARINC 429 data support, a single combined Iridium and GPS antenna, an extended operating temperature range, and a battery free extended life power supply that can send a final position report after aircraft power is lost. An internal Micro Flight Data Monitor with embedded sensors and an SD card records flight parameters for post flight review.
