How do I adjust the CDP-300 display brightness

Brightness is adjusted on the CDP-300, which is the unit with the display. The DVI-300 has no display or brightness menu of its own. Its panel backlighting follows the aircraft dimmer bus.

Change the brightness mode

  1. From the Main Menu, select System, then Brightness.
  2. Select the mode you want to use.
Use Optical Mode The light sensor in the display panel reads the cabin lighting and sets the display, indicators and backlight to match. It updates every five to seven seconds, so that short-lived changes in light do not make the display flicker.
Use Dimmer Mode Brightness follows the voltage on the aircraft dimmer bus, up to the level set in the Dimmer Bus Volt menu. Above that the display and backlights stay at maximum. This only works if the dimmer bus has been wired to the CDP-300.
Manual Adjust Overrides the automatic modes and lets you set one of 15 levels by hand. The setting stays until you change it again or the unit is factory reset.

Night vision users, please read. Standard dimmer mode can be configured so that turning the dimmer knob all the way down is read as the dimmer bus being switched off, in other words as daylight, which takes the display to daytime brightness. Under night vision goggles that can cause uncomfortable glare. An extended dimmer range mode is available that allows the display to be turned off completely at the bottom of the dimmer range, but it is not enabled by default. Please contact your maintenance team or our support team if you need it.

If the brightness is not behaving as you expect
  • Where a CDP-300 and a DVI-300 are installed as a combined unit, the CDP-300 is slaved to the DVI-300 by default, so the aircraft dimmer knob controls both.
  • Dimmer mode has no effect if the dimmer bus was never wired to the CDP-300.
  • In bright daylight with the dimmer bus turned off, the display goes to maximum brightness. This is deliberate, so that it stays readable in sunlight.
