How do I refresh SkyWeb to check for new reports now?

SkyWeb refreshes automatically at a set interval. If you would rather not wait for the next refresh, or if your map appears to have stopped updating, you can request a refresh immediately and check your refresh settings.

Requesting an immediate refresh

  1. Log in to SkyWeb and open the Tools menu.
  2. Select Poll Now.

SkyWeb will immediately check the SKYTRAC network for any outstanding reports or messages, rather than waiting for the next scheduled poll.

Changing how often SkyWeb refreshes

To change the automatic refresh rate, open the Preferences menu, select Poll Interval and choose an interval from the sub-menu.

The sub-menu also contains a Stop option. If Stop is selected, SkyWeb will not poll for data at all until an interval is selected again. If your map appears frozen or has not updated for some time, please check this setting first.

What Poll Now does not do

Poll Now retrieves reports that have already reached the SKYTRAC network. It does not instruct the aircraft to send a new position, and it will not change when the unit next transmits.

If an aircraft is showing as overdue, Poll Now will confirm that nothing further has arrived, but it will not bring in a position that the unit has not yet sent. Please see our article on checking when an aircraft last reported for the next steps in that situation.

Further assistance

If reports are not arriving after a refresh, please contact our support team at support@skytrac.ca, quoting the aircraft registration and the time you expected the report.
