What do the aircraft colours mean on the WebSentinel map?
WebSentinel colours aircraft icons and labels according to their tracking status.
- Red, Distress. The aircraft has triggered a distress signal.
- Purple, Overdue Report. The aircraft was flying and has not reported for more than 25 minutes. WebSentinel recommends that you investigate.
- Green, Active. The aircraft is flying at 20 knots or more.
- Yellow, Active-Slow. The aircraft is moving below 20 knots, or has sent an On Ground report.
- Grey, Inactive. The aircraft has stopped reporting.
Purple and grey mean different things. Grey means an aircraft has not reported recently, which is normal for an aircraft on the ground. Purple means an aircraft that was airborne has stopped reporting, which is why it is worth following up.
How long an aircraft stays purple
An aircraft turns purple 25 minutes after its last report. If no further report arrives, it turns grey about 40 minutes after that last report.
If the Overdue Report status is turned off for your account, these aircraft are shown as Active-Slow instead.
