Why can't I see my DLS-140 WiFi network?
What to check:
- Power and start-up:
- Check the circuit breaker.
- Turn on the cockpit WIFI / CELL switch.
- Check the LED. It shows green briefly at power-on, then steady blue. Steady red means a boot error.
- Allow 2 to 3 minutes for the network to appear, then wait about another minute before connecting.
- Ground mode: On many installations the Wi-Fi turns off automatically when the aircraft is in the air, based on the weight-on-wheels or collective switch. If the system thinks the aircraft is airborne while it's on the ground, the Wi-Fi stays off.
- Right network name: A table shows the name for each firmware type:
- 03.xx firmware: DLS-140- plus the serial number, password skytrac!
- Older SkyLink firmware: Skylink-…, password on the label
- 2.4 GHz only: Devices limited to 5 GHz won't see it.
- Distance: The antenna may be away from the unit, so try from inside the cabin rather than outside.
- The next-to-the-unit test: Hold a phone right beside the DLS-140. If a weak network shows up only there, the unit is working and the Wi-Fi antenna or its cable is the problem. Check the cable is on the Wi-Fi port (cables can be connected to the wrong ports) and check continuity and connectors.
- Still nothing: Connect by Ethernet and check the Wi-Fi settings on the Configuration tab, or contact support.
