How do I find and track an aircraft in TrooTrax?

Aircraft are found and followed from the View tab.

Find an aircraft

  1. Select View from the top menu. The Live Tracking Map opens, with the Assets list on the left.
  2. Type the aircraft name into the search assets field, or find it in the list below.
  3. Select the aircraft.

The aircraft is highlighted in the list and on the map, and its details are shown in the Attribute and Value table below the list, including state, position, speed, heading, altitude and the time of the last report.

Follow it as it moves

With the aircraft selected, there are two ways to track it:

  • Select the crosshair icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the asset list. Hovering over it shows Track Asset.
  • Or right-click the aircraft in the list and select Track Asset.

A tracking window opens on the right of the map and follows the aircraft as it moves. You can have up to five tracking windows open at once.

Pin the aircraft you watch most

Right-click an aircraft and select Pin Asset. A small pin icon is added next to it so you can find it quickly.

To show only your pinned aircraft, select the filter drop-down arrow above the list and select Show Pinned. This clears all other aircraft from the map. Select Show All from the same drop-down to bring them back.

Important: Once you filter the Assets list, the map only shows the aircraft that remain in the list. If an aircraft appears to be missing from the map, check your filters first.

If you cannot find the aircraft
  1. Check the Assets list under the View tab to confirm the aircraft is there, clearing any filters first.
  2. If the aircraft is not in the list, contact your administrator to confirm your role has been given access to it. See How do I create a role and control what a user can see in TrooTrax?
  3. If the aircraft is in the list but its position is not updating, please contact our support team.
Other things you can do with a selected aircraft

The toolbar at the bottom of the asset list and the right-click menu give you the same set of options.

Move to Asset Locates the selected aircraft and shows its details at the current time.
Zoom to Asset Zooms in on the selected aircraft.
Send Message Opens the send message tab.
Asset Events Opens the Events section and filters it so that only events from the selected aircraft are shown.
