Why is my RockAIR not reporting?

Please work through the following checks in order.

If the unit is new

RockAIR units are despatched in shipping mode and do nothing until external power is applied. They must also be activated against your account before they can report. See How do I set up and activate a new RockAIR?

Check the power indicator

The indicator beneath the green power button tells you most of what you need to know:

  • No light. The unit has no power or is switched off. Press and hold the power button for two seconds to switch it on.
  • Flashing quickly. Tracking is paused. Press the power button once to resume.
  • Intermittent green flash. The unit is running on its internal battery, so external power is not reaching it. Check the cable and the power source. The battery gives around eight hours before the unit stops.
  • Solid green. The unit has external power and is tracking.

Check the unit's position

The RockAIR must sit upright with a clear view of the sky, as all of its antennas are in the top of the casing. Electrically heated windshields will weaken GPS, Iridium and cellular signals.

A unit that is new, or that has not been used for some time, may take a few minutes to acquire its first position. A unit in regular use will normally fix within a few seconds.

Check the reporting interval

Reporting intervals can be set as slow as once per 24 hours, so confirm what your units are set to before assuming there is a fault. The interval is held by SKYTRAC, so please contact our support team if you are unsure.

If all of the above check out, please contact us with the unit's serial number and tell us what the power indicator is showing. Those two details are the first things we look at and will get your case moving faster.

If you have any issues or questions, please contact our support team at support@skytrac.ca.
